SCHOOL children raised thousands of pounds for a hospice with public concerts.
A number of schools from across South Essex gathered at Lakeside and Eastgate Shopping Centre to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice in Basildon.
By humming, singing and carolling their way through a variety of classic festive favourites, crowds gathered from across the shopping centre to watch each fantastic performance.
A hospice spokesman said: “Did you hear that our amazing school choirs raised a total of £4,291 by singing at the shopping centres.
“How amazing is that. Thank you to the schools that took part at Eastgate and Lakeside and everyone who donated to a good cause.
“This is a Christmas present that we’ll never forget.”
