A man was rushed to hospital after being cut free from railings in a busy road after getting his knees stuck.
Firecrews rushed to the scene in Queensway, Southend at 2:43am today.
The firefighters found both of the man's knees were lodged in the railings and they used tools to spread the bars and release him by 3.09am.
The casualty was left in the care of a friend, awaiting the arrival of the Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 2.31am with reports of a person who had fallen in Southchurch Road, Southend.
"We sent an ambulance and took one man to Southend Hospital for further care."
