THIRSTY beer lovers are set to flock to Colchester Arts Centre for the return of a popular winter ale festival.

Organised by Colchester and North East Essex CAMRA, the event is now into its 13th consecutive year.

Showcasing more than 100 different varieties of beer, along with cider, perry, wine and soft drinks for the designated drivers, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Ales comes from the length and breadth of the UK as well as further afield, with many appearing at the festival for the first time.

The festival opens on Wednesday and runs until Saturday at the Church Street venue.

Hot and cold food will be available at all times and there is live acoustic music on Thursday evening.

Each day, doors open at noon and close at 10.30pm.

Admission is free of charge until 3pm and £3 thereafter.

All card carrying CAMRA members go free of charge at all times.
