A HUNT is underway for a man after an elderly woman was duped into handing over more than £1,000.
Essex Police are searching for Abul Sadruddin, 24, in connection with a report in Canvey in December.
During the incident a woman, aged in her 70s, was tricked into handing over a four figure sum of cash.
The woman was called on Wednesday, December 4, and was told by the caller she was being scammed by her bank.
She was told to withdraw thousands of pounds before handing it to a man posing as a courier.
Sadruddin is about 5ft 7ins tall and has links to Tower Hamlets, in London, and Canvey.
He also has a goatee-style beard.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Anyone with information is asked to call our Volume Fraud Team on 101 or by visiting ww.essex.police.uk. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
