LOVE Island winner Finn Tapp will be back sporting an Oxford City shirt in a couple of weeks.

The club managers have said they are excited to meet Paige Turley, his new girlfriend, who they expect will be cheering him on from the sidelines.

The 20-year-old defender won the show last night after a whirlwind romance under the South African sun.

The couple bagged the £50,000 cash prize fund which they decided to split.

However, despite Mr Tapp telling the millions of viewers that the pair would use the money to put down a deposit on an apartment in Manchester, the club’s commercial director says he will be back playing for the city.

Mick Livesay said the club members and its fans are really proud of the player and that it was a ‘great opportunity’ for him, adding: “I’m delighted for him and we expect to see him back in his Oxford City shirt on the pitch in a couple of weeks.

“We’ve been really supportive of the show, and he is a contracted player.

“We will be sitting down with him and the contract to discuss going forward.”

He joked that the club would add in a ‘reality TV’ section into the other players contracts, explaining that some of the semi-professional footballers could end up on Bake Off and Dancing On Ice because of their hobbies.

He said: “We are really happy for him and we look forward to seeing Paige at the games cheering him on too.”

Mr Tapp scored the winning goal against Wealdstone on January 4, weeks before entering the Love Island villa in Cape Town, South Africa.

The visitors to the game were top of Vanarama National League South at the time, but the defender’s header 13 minutes from the end of the game proved the difference.

He then played a week later in Dartford but left the pitch on a stretcher only minutes into the match when he got concussion.
