COLCHESTER Pride has announced the four big name acts set to headline this year's event.

Thousands of people will descend on Firstsite this June for a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community across Colchester.

A wealth of local musicians, buskers, poets, burlesque and drag performers will taking part in festivities.

But four massive headline acts have also been secured to perform on the main stage, which will be bigger than ever before.

Union J member and musical star Jaymi Hensley will kick off festivities.

Fresh from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph in the West End after making a name for himself in the X Factor boyband, he'll be singing live for crowds.

RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Charlie Hides, better known as The Transatlantic Dame, will also perform and fans will have a chance to meet the queen up close.

Jordan Gray, a transgender activist who shot to fame on The Voice UK, will also perform for crowds.

She'd also a renowned comedy writer so expect plenty of laughs during the set.

Last but not least is Kyla Porter, who is better known as Almost Pink.

Known as one of the best tributes acts in Europe, she'll perform all the pop icons best-loved hits including Just Like a Pill, So What and What About Us.

A spokesman for Colchester Pride said: "We have two stages again this year, taking over Firstsite's auditorium as well as a much larger stage than 2019.

"Listen out for announcements of the rest of our line up, we have 15 hours of entertainment planned over the day and our very popular cabaret evening will close our show from 8pm to 10pm in the auditorium.

"We will also have a wealth of organisations, market traders, charities and catering outlets."

Tickets for Colchester Pride are £8 per adult and £4 per child.

The event takes place on Saturday, June 13, at Firstsite, in Lewis Gardens, between 12noon and 10pm. .
