A Southend councillor is in self-isolation as a precautionary measure.
Daniel Cowan, of the St Laurence ward, has been forced to cancel his councillor surgery for this month, after he is self-isolating in his home.
He issued a statement to his consituents over the weekend. He said: "I regret to inform you that the remaining surgery for 18th March at Holiday Inn is cancelled.
"I currently have a minor chest infection and I am following government advice to self-isolate for at least the next 7 days.
"I will still be accessible by phone or email if you require my help."
The councillor also stated that he often has chest infections, and it will most likely pass in the next few days.
