A STUDENT had been named as a finalist in a national competition to tackle the challenges of an ageing society.
Andrei Petra, 15, who attends St Benedict’s College in Colchester, has reached the final of the Youth Industrial Strategy Competition, a national STEM competition organised by the British Science Association.
More than 2,000 students participated in the competition and Andrei has been shortlisted as a finalist.
Andrei designed a project comparing whether exercise is effective in reducing pre-high blood pressure in people over 65.
He will now present his idea to a panel of industry experts and celebrity judges.
The winner will take home a cash prize for themselves and their school.
