IT WAS all round to Mike and Jules Peters' house for more than 68,000 fans of The Alarm over the weekend.

Not to be deterred by social distancing - and the postponement of their UK tour - the Dyserth bandmates broadcast an intimate solo set across Facebook in their first THE BIG NIGHT IN event.

Showcasing a range of hits from across the bands almost 40 year career on a min stage set up next to the couple's jukebox, the two hour show also focused on a Q and A with fans online who were social distancing, and multiple interviews between Mike and Jules.

Jules said: "The Big Night In was a beautiful community experience in times of trouble. "After cancelling our Alarm shows in Manchester, Glasgow, London and Birmingham, this month, we toyed with the idea of a broadcast from home. Within hours, the idea had escalated and before you could say ‘68 Guns’ our home has turned into a TV studio.

"In these unprecedented times, both Mike and I felt it was important to bring the Alarm family together. Anything that we can do to keep people focused and positive.

"In our new world of social distancing, we were in fact able to get closer together direct from our sofa in Dyserth and the feedback has been incredible."

While Mike performed and Jules presented - her second such role following Valley Aid earlier this month - Alarm tour manager and "expert techie" Andy Labrow controlled the broadcast from his living room in Bury

The show also featured the premier of videos, including for the single Psalm off the Sigma album, and a film from the recent Gathering at Venue Cymru.

Jules added: "The evening just kept on careening forward, fuelled by the Alarm family and community.. So far, there has been an incredible reach of over 68,000 and counting.! We all loved it so much that we are currently planning our next broadcast which will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 9pm

"Music can keep us strong.”

One event which can't be replicated online is their upcoming Snowdon Rocks fundraiser for their charity Love Hope Strength, which will now be rescheduled and was due to take place at a secret location in Snowdonia from Friday, May 22 until Sunday 24.
