Three people have been issued fixed penalty notices after refusing to comply with ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Salisbury Police said officers had been keeping an eye on the group who tended to congregate in the city centre "with no valid reason".

Yesterday, after three of them refused to disperse when told to do so, police dealt with them accordingly.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: “This group represents the minority in our community as most people are heeding the restrictions put in place by the Government to stop the spread of the virus and save lives.

“My officers will continue to patrol the city centre and engage with those flouting the rules and encourage them to go home.

“Where this doesn’t happen, and it is appropriate to do so, we will enforce the restrictions as a last resort.”
