Castle Point seafront car parks have been closed in a bid to encourage people to stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak.

Car parks including Thorney Bay car park and Labworth car park will be physically closed off from the public until further notice to stamp out seafront visits and ensure social distancing instructions are being followed.

Due to residents requiring access to Lubbins Car Park it will not be physically closed, however signs will be in place to enforce the message that it's off limits for members of the public.

These closures will be in place for the forseeable future.

Castle Point Council posted on their Facebook page: "To aid Social Distancing and encourage people to stay at home @castlepoint have decided to close all seafront car parks for the foreseeable future.

"Coronavirus: anyone can get it, anyone can spread it! Stay home. Protect the NHS.

#StayHomeSaveLives"
