A BINMAN has thanked the community after heartwarming notes and posters were stuck to dozens of bins.
David Adams, a binman who works in Rochford, discovered earlier this week that kindhearted residents had left thank you notes to the refuse collectors who continue to work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 32-year-old told the Echo that he and his team were extremely grateful to find the posters. He said: “It’s a massive change in scenario. Usually people see us as an inconvenience on the roads.
“It shows how important clearing rubbish is.
“We’re not superheroes, NHS staff are. We’re just doing our jobs.
“It was a really nice surprise and it’s good for the children to do.
“We took photos of all the nice messages.
“Perhaps the coronavirus has made people more aware of their hygiene and cleanliness.
“We have a huge bottle of hand sanitiser in the cabin.”
