Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a popular DJ who kept south Essex partying for decades.
Terry Benjafield, known as Terry Ray, who lived in Barling, has passed away after a long term illness.
He worked at Sweeneys in Basildon and later Essex Radio.
Friend John Crickson said: "Awful news hearing that one of my oldest DJ friends passed away. So many memories from our youth, R.I.P Terry Benjafield aka Terry Ray.
"I know some of you will remember him from either Sweeneys in Basildon or Essex Radio."
More than 100 other residents and friends took to Facebook to pay kind tributes to him.
One man posted: "Very sad news Terry was a great dj and a dear friend I got him started in the uk at Sweeneys after he came over here from djing abroad RIP my friend."
