SOUTHEND United’s board have not heard from manager Sol Campbell amid speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Reports in the national media suggest the former England international is close to quitting as the Shrimpers boss.

But the 45-year-old has not made contact with the Roots Hall hierarchy.

Campbell was appointed Blues boss in October and has endured a turbulent time in charge with the club struggling on and off the pitch.

The Shrimpers squad have been paid late and Campbell has been unable to bolster his options due to a transfer embargo.

Blues sit second from bottom in League One, 16 points from safety, with Campbell winning four of his 23 games in charge.

Campbell has yet to respond to the Echo’s request for comment.
