PLANS have been unveiled to turn public toilets into new offices.

Tiptree Parish Council has put forward a planning application to Colchester Council asking for permission to turn redundant public conveniences in Church Road, Tiptree, into new parish council offices.

The council previously leased the public toilets from Colchester Council with plans to let the site to a business but it was unable to secure planning permission.

Tiptree parish clerk Rob Williams said: “As the site has been derelict for many years and quite the eyesore to the village, alternative uses for the building were discussed.

“The parish offices at the same time had become overly cramped and the opportunity to switch sites was determined to be tested for viability.

“A plan has been built and we await Colchester Council’s answer to our application.

“If successful, we will be able to turn a derelict building into a smart, well-used facility in the middle of the village.

“We would also be able to bring a single toilet facility back into use. All in all, we feel this will be a win-win for the people of Tiptree.”
