POLICE have asked for the public's help to identify a "nuisance" dirt bike rider blatantly flouting the lockdown rules.

Officers have put out an appeal after receiving a number of complaints about the rider in the past few weeks.

An off-duty officer was said to have witnessed the rider causing trouble and with police unable to identify the suspect, they are now calling on the public to help them.

In a post on Facebook, the Castle Point policing team said: "This one has been evading us for a while, reported several times by members of public. (He was) causing a nuisance along the sea wall in Canvey today witnessed by an off duty colleague.

"This rider is riding on the same paths and fields used by families taking exercise, clearly they are a risk to others and themselves, not to mention being in breach of Covid-19 regulations.

"We are keep to identify the owner/ rider, so if you know who they are please drop us an email using the page link or report anonymously via Crimestoppers."
