A CYCLIST suffered a serious head injury in a suspected hit-and-run in Basildon.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage following the collision involving a car and a bike.
Officers were called to reports of a cyclist injured in the road in Broadmayne at around 10.30pm on Saturday.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, with a serious head injury.
Police say it is believed he had been in collision with a car between the Timberlog Lane roundabout and Church Road.
The car had left the scene, police add.
A 35-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He remains in custody.
Essex Police is now appealing for information about the incident as part of the investigation.
