RAF heroes across the country were able to join a virtual street party to commemorate VE Day.

The party was hosted in Randall Close, Witham, and streamed online to thousands of members of the Royal Air Force Association charity.

Central to the celebrations was solo tribute artist Andy Wilsher who performed classic 1940's songs to mark the special occasion.

An estimated 40 people were present at the street party, including several members of the Witham branch of the RAFA who were invited as special guests.

Organiser Jackie Dyer said: "It went really well and was a fantastic day.

"We had been preparing it for weeks and had the bunting laid out across the houses and over the road.

"We also made sure everyone was sat two metres apart and had tape laid out on the street to show people where to stand.

"It was great to see people enjoying themselves and we hope those watching online had as much fun as we did."

Andy, who spent six years in the RAF, has continued to sing during the lockdown to help raise cash for charity.

He has been performing outside care homes, online for the RAFA and is now singing on doorsteps of people having to isolate in their own homes.
