Two men were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences by officers on patrol in Grays and Corringham.

The officers stopped a Ford Mondeo in Gifford Cross Road, Corringham, at lunchtime on May 20 and saw the driver acting suspiciously.

They carried out a search and found ten wraps believed to contain class A drugs.

A 22-year-old man from Grays was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. He has been released under investigation while officers continue their enquiries.

Nitrous oxide cannisters were found in Kershaw Close, Chafford Hundred, after officers were called in the evening to reports of three people inhaling gas and smoking cannabis in a parked car.

An 18-year-old man from Grays was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and possession of drugs. He was released under investigation while police continue enquiries.

The arrests were carried out by officers patrolling as part of Operation Sceptre, Essex Police's ongoing work to tackle knife crime and serious violence, which is also associated with drug crime.
