TWO men have been charged after a drugs raid in Southend.

Police attended North Road after reports drug dealers may be at an address and someone vulnerable was being exploited.

Paul Warren, 22, was charged with supplying class A drugs.

Denzel Lebbie, 20, was charged with possession of class B and class A drugs, supplying class A drugs, assault of an emergency worker and breach of a criminal behaviour order.

Dan Nelson, Tory shadow cabinet member for community safety said: “I am pleased to see the officers took such swift action in this case.

“This is not the sort of thing we want happening anywhere in our borough.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Two men were arrested on Sunday May 24 at around 12.30pm near North Road, Southend.

“Paul Warren, 22, was charged on Monday May 25 with supplying class A drugs. He is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on Friday June 22.

“Denzel Lebbie, 20, was charged on Monday 25 May, with possession of class B and class A drugs, supplying class A drugs, assault of an emergency worker and breach of a criminal behaviour order.

“He remains in custody and is next due in Basildon Crown Court on Friday 22 June.”

Southend Community Policing Team said on Facebook officers attended an address in Eastwood after concerns drug dealers may be at the address and someone vulnerable was being exploited. Safeguarding for a vulnerable male is ongoing.
