A TOP doctor has embraced a new colourful hair do to raise thousands of pounds for a hospice.

Dr Grahame Tosh is Medical Director at hospice charity Havens Hospices, joining the organisation in February just before it opened the brand new Fair Havens in Prittlewell.

The 59-year-old top doctor has set a fundraising target of £750 for the charity’s ‘Bare Your Roots’ campaign but smashed this with target by collecting an impressive £2,111 for the hospice where he works.

Dr Tosh, who also worked for the charity in the 1990’s, says, “I have tried to use ‘lockdown rules’ to avoid handing over my head of fine white hair but have been thwarted at every turn.

“One of our Nursing Assistants is also a hairdresser, and another has her own supply of hair dyes so they are both donating their time and materials to help. We have a hair salon at the new Fair Havens, so this is an opportunity to ‘test it out’ before we’re able to open it to patients again. Because we all work together in close proximity every day where it is impossible to ‘social distance,’ we can undertake this challenge safely using appropriate precautions. So there’s no escaping it!”
