A PLAYWRIGHT has kept busy during lockdown creating a new audio comedy which has caught the attention of the BBC.

Paul T. Davies has written the comedy, called Isolation Alan, in the style of much-loved writer Alan Bennett.

The plays have come to the attention of BBC Radio, and the first episode has been aired as part of the BBC Upload Festival.

Paul said: “Isolation Alan was born out of anxiety and boredom. I work in theatre and overnight the profession was closed down, and remains closed.

“I commented on Facebook that I missed theatre so much that I was at my window at the slightest movement in the street, watching for drama.

“My friend Ben Wills, who is the technical manager at the Mercury Theatre, said it was like an Alan Bennett play, and he wrote the first couple of lines. I responded with a couple more lines, and that’s how the first episode, A Salmon Skid by the Bins, was written.”
