Fly-tippers have dumped trolleys of waste outside a primary school overnight.

Councillor Daniel Cowan has spoken of his disgust after finding trolleys full of garden waste and general rubbish, broken glass and even a bottle filled with urine left outside Eastwood Primary School and Nursery.

Daniel, who represents St Laurence, was this morning alerted to the rubbish which had been left outside of the school on Rayleigh Road overnight, and has since taken action to get the waste cleared.

Mr Cowan said: "This morning I reported a number of fly-tipping incidents around St Laurence ward which had appeared overnight.

"I have noticed an increase in fly-tipping incidents in recent months but none have disgusted me more than the one pictured below.

"Last night or early this morning shopping trolleys full of garden waste and general rubbish was dumped outside Eastwood Primary School and Nursery.

"This included broken glass which has made the entrance unsafe and the school have had to put out a last minute notice to parents to avoid that gate.

"As if that wasn't bad enough, there was a water bottle filled with what appears to be urine."

Councillor Cowan is now determined to try and track down those who are responsible for the mess.

He continued: "What the hell is wrong with some people? We have amazing waste collection services in Southend with conveniently located household waste and recycling centres and cost-effective garden waste and bulky items collection for those without their own transport.

"There is absolutely no excuse for fly-tipping anywhere whatsoever but especially outside a primary school leaving broken glass and bottles of piss on where small children walk.

"These people should be utterly ashamed and I will be pressing for the council to use every lever at our disposal to identify those responsible.

"We remain vigilant against fly-tipping and I know the community here shares my passion for ensuring we keep St Laurence tidy."

Southend Council and Eastwood Primary School and Nursery have been contacted for comment.
