A "KEY witness" is sought by police after a fatal crash that killed a biker.

The crash in Southend Road, Great Wakering last night resulted in the driver of a Yamaha motorbike losing his life.

A police spokesman said: "We would like to speak to the driver and any passengers of a small silver car which would have been on Southend Road, near to Morley Nurseries, just before 6.20pm last night.

"Sadly, the two vehicles behind it – a grey Mercedes and a white Yamaha motorbike – were involved in a collision and the biker died at the scene.

"No arrests have been made and the driver of the Mercedes is assisting with our enquiries."

Inspector Mark Fraser, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died last night.

“We need to establish if anyone in the silver car, which would have been driving in front of the Mercedes, saw anything which could assist our enquiries.

“We’re continuing to ask other witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage, to come forward. You can submit information through our website or call my team on 101. The incident number to quote is 1040 of 15 July.

“We need to piece together what led up to the collision and, even if you think your information isn’t important, it could be the missing piece of the puzzle.”

If you have information but would prefer to remain anonymous you can called Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
