Council bosses have issued advice after staff removed a huge flytip.
The rubbish has been cleared from the Rookyards, in Vange, Basildon, after nearby residents reported the pile of waste.
A spokesman from Basildon Council urged homeowners to check for a waste carriers license if anyone asks to dispose of waste.
The council say they are now investigating in preparation for enforcement on those responsible.
The spokesman said: "This was dumped in Rookyards, Vange and reported to us.
"Our enforcement team is investigating ahead of further action on those responsible. The flytip has now been cleared.
