NEW warning signs have been placed on the Bell Wharf jetty to keep people away.
Southend Council have placed restrictions on the Bell Wharf structure in Leigh following incidents of people jumping off it into the sea.
No entry signs have been placed to stop any unauthorised person from sitting on the wharf for their own safety.
It follows previous warnings from the coastguard not to use it as several beach goers were spotted jumping off of it.
PCSO Reynolds and PCSO Fox of the Southend Policing Team were in Old Leigh yesterday making sure members of the public were aware of the new signs and restrictions in place.
A ban on traffic was also put in place to stop crowds gathering.
