PARTY-goers will not be able to hit the dancefloor as one of their favourite nightclubs re-open this week.

MooMoos, in Southend, will open its doors to customers from Friday, but the venue will become a bar, rather than a nightclub.

The club, on Warrior Square, has introduced a whole host of measures for its customers, with visitors banned from shouting or dancing on their feet when the venue re-opens.

A full table service operation will be in place, with customers told they can only dance while sitting at their assigned table.

Single use drink menus will be disposed of by staff, and “easily accessible” hand sanitiser stations will be placed across the club.

Bosses say “regular touch points” will be cleaned every 15 minutes.

Ron Woodley, deputy leader at Southend Council, has praised MooMoos bosses thinking on their feet.

He said: “It’s really good to see them adapting and opening again. We need to get used to the new normal.

“With the waitress service, we should see a reduction in alcohol consumption. Staff should be able to keep an eye on how much is being drunk a bit more easily now.

“This should make things nicer for those having a quiet drink and could calm things down.”

A spokesman from MooMoos advised customers to book ahead as the nightclub is now running a reduced capacity, adding: “We are implementing clear social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning regimes and providing customers with full table service.

“We have temporarily closed our dance floors to make space for more tables.

“There will be no live DJ sets, instead we will be streaming pre-recorded DJ sets at more ambient sound levels.

“Single use menu’s, contactless payments, and hand sanitiser stations compliment the revised layout of our venues. Please keep an eye on our social media pages to check our trading hours.”
