CROOKS have ransacked a garden taking a shed door off its hinges to get inside to steal a bike.

Marie Bonnier, of Fryatt Avenue, Dovercourt, said she came home from her night shift at 7.30am on Thursday morning to find her back gate left wide open and her shed door taken off from its hinges.

The 40-year-old said the thieves stole her 16-year-old son, Jaden’s bike, a white Orbea bike worth between £300 to £400.

She said: “I spent £3,500 on fencing and on the gates, as I don’t want my rescue dogs to go out or anyone else to come in.

“They did not even try to break the lock which is on the back gate instead they cut right through it.

“I’m really angry because you won’t find anyone working harder than me and I worked hard to secure my garden for my dogs.

“The fact they wrecked my gate and fence is so frustrating.

“I take a lot of pride in my home as I spent a lot of time and money on it, I want to have a nice house.

“I feel sorry for Jaden, he’s gutted.

She added: “About six or seven years ago someone burned our shed down with a new motorbike in it.

“This is the first time something happened since then.”

Mrs Bonnier, who runs her own care company called MB Care, said she believes more lights should be installed in the area, especially in Mace Park.

“These people come in across the park and it’s such a good place for kids as they have so many places to run to,” she added.

“That’s why there’s been so many break-in in The Vineway recently.

“I’m disappointed and I feel sorry for all the hard work and families who spend time and money on their gardens and people come in and ruin it all.

“They have no respect.”

Anyone with information about the theft should contact Essex Police on 101.
