A man was rushed to hospital after becoming ill at an island beauty spot.
Fire crews, police officers, rescue teams and ambulances were seen near to Canvey Wick and Canvey Marshes on Canvey this morning after the man became unwell.
The man was rushed to Southend Hospital following the incident.
One witness said: "It looked pretty serious and like someone was badly injured. There were more than 15 vehicles involved, including police, rescue teams, coastguards, paramedics, and firefighters."
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a man found unwell in the Canvey Wick area at around 11.05am today. Emergency services attended to assist the man and their work is ongoing."
An ambulance spokesman said: "The East of England Ambulance Service attended to a patient who was medically unwell at Canvey Wick Nature Reserve shortly after midday today. The patient was transported to Southend Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
