A MUM will brave the shave to help raise funds for a school minibus and help children who have lost hair.
Rachel Chaplin, 36, from Stanway, will be cutting off her long locks in support of Lexden Springs School.
The school is raising money to buy a wheelchair accessible minibus for pupils to use.
As part of its fundraising drive the school Parent Teacher Association decided to hold a wacky hair event across August.
Rachel, whose son Jason goes to the school, will have her hair cut off and then her head shaved to help raise money.
Her hair will also be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss
Rachel, a member of the PTA, said: "Due to the coronavirus we have had to cancel the big spring and summer events we had planned so the PTA have been trying to come up with other ways to raise money.
"I decided to shave my hair as part of the wacky hair month."
Rachel will have her 13 inches of hair chopped at home on Sunday.
She added: "I'm quite excited to get the shave done and raise as much as I possibly can for the minibus appeal.
"The minibus campaign is important because the pupils use the minibus to access the local community which helps to improve their social and independent living skills.
"The wheelchair accessible minibus will be replacing a 16 year old minibus that is no longer viable for repair."
Rachel hopes to raise £2,000.
