A CAR failed to stop after a hit-and-run crash in Great Wakering.

Police have launched a witness appeal after the crash between a pedestrian and Vauxhall Astra on Southend Road.

The incident happened at around 5.55pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called at around 5.55pm by the ambulance service with reports that a pedestrian and a silver Vauxhall Astra had been in collision.

"The pedestrian a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The Vauxhall Astra  failed to stop following the collision.

"We would ask if anyone saw what happened, has dashcam footage of the collision or the moments before or after it, is asked to please call us on 101 or report it online quoting incident 203 of 12 August.

"Information can also be given completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org."
