A POPULAR school cook is preparing to enjoy a restful retirement after feeding youngsters for more than three decades.
Christine Mann, 65, from Basildon, has worked at Greensted Junior School in the town for 33 years.
She said: “I have loved every minute working at Greensted, it is a fantastic school. It has been a pleasure to feed the thousands of children who have gone through the school and ensure they have a healthy, nutritious school dinner every day.
“I am now looking forward to my retirement.”
Headteacher Ian Hampshire said Mrs Mann’s meals became legendary.
He said: “Mrs Mann has worked at Greensted for over 33 years - a fabulous achievement and it just goes to show what a wonderful place this is to work. She has always put the children first in every decision and listened to what they have requested too.”
