EASYJET has released information on those affected by its withdrawal from Southend.

The airline is offering three options to passengers after it revealed no more flights would operate from the town from September 1.

The base at Southend Airport will close on August 31, and flights from Stansted Airport will also be cancelled - but Stansted will remain a part of the airline’s route network.

Passengers have three options.

The first will be to switch to another easyJet flight for free of charge, excluding routes between Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Morocco.

Flights are available to book up to September 20 2021.

If customers still wish to travel to their destination at this time, they can also transfer to a flight to or from an alternative nearby airport and they can search for available alternative flights.

Customers can search for available easyJet flights and re-book through the company’s website.

If customers transfer their flight and need to make part of their rebooked journey via train, bus or hire car, to get to your destination, the airline will also reimburse these costs.

The second option is to claim a voucher for the full value of the ticket.

The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and gives customers the flexibility to book travel to anywhere when they are ready to fly.

The final option is to request a refund from easyJet, which customers can also do online.

An spokesman for the budget airline said: “We understand the uncertainty this may cause our customers due to travel to and from these airports.

“We would like to reassure customers we are we contacting those whose flights are impacted with clear guidance on their options.

“We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience this may cause.”
