Readers have been having their say as to which roads in and around Southend have the biggest speeding problems.

Lots of us are guilty of perhaps pushing the speed a bit too much at times and here in Southend it's no different.

Here are the top speeding hot spots in Southend:

Cllr Daniel Cowan says: "The worst road according to council monitoring is Whitehouse Road where 84.6% of cars were found to be speeding. Seven of the worst 50 roads for speeding are in St Laurence ward. Four of those are in the worst 10. This makes St Laurence the most affected ward for speeding and I’m determined to ensure the Highways Department tackles this."

Nick Wesley said: "New Road in Leigh on sea, the one that runs alongside the railway track on the other side from Old Leigh (where the Ship pub is) it's like a race track, but with families trying to cross."

Echo:

Donna Collins said: "Green Lane and Western Approaches, Eastwood. There is a school entrance (Heycroft primary) on two bends of Green Lane and motorists don't slow down for the children crossing."

Lisa Kennedy said: "Christchchurch Road used as a cut through, nearly always a collision when people are pulling out of Boscombe road to enter Christchurch Road."

Other areas highlighted by Echo readers include Bournemouth Park Road in Southend, Central Avenue, and Northumberland Avenue.

Emma Heffer said on Facebook: "Elmsleigh drive is used as a racing track from A127 to Blenheim chase traffic lights - numerous accidents happen with cars turning out of danescroft and speeding cars down Elmsleigh."

Zoe Ann Scarpa said: "The chase going up to bull lane and back again is an absolute nightmare. Whitehouse road, the road around the back of Tesco going towards the airport."
