With the weather starting to turn and the summer seemingly behind us, it’s high time we enjoyed a roast dinner again.

The Dining Room, London Road, SS9 2UH

If you’re looking for an extra special treat then The Dining Room is the place to go for an opulent Sunday roast. 

Subject to seasonal changes, the menu includes roast rump of lamb, pork, beef or turkey breast.

The meat roasts start at £13.95 and include roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and homemade gravy.

The Bellhouse is a quintessentially British country pub housed in a 16th century hunting lodge that was once frequented by monarchs and noblemen.

Sunday roasts at The Bellhouse are cooked to perfection and come with all the trimmings plus lashings of gravy.

The full menu continues to run on a Sunday so this could be the ideal place for a party with a few fussy eaters.

Toby Carvery, Prince Avenue, SS2

There's nothing quite like a Toby Carvery, they're famous for a reason.

The Toby serves a wide variety of all the trimmings, including a list of condiments as long as my arm and countless ways of cooking a potato.

Roasts at the carvery are just done differently and the opportunity to customise your meal is the real joy of dining here.

There is a full menu available on a Sunday as well as the carvery that serves a choice of lamb, turkey, beef, gammon and there are also vegetarian options.

The regular carvery costs £10.29 on a Sunday and it's like home, but better - you can even go up for seconds. 

The Pipe of Port, High Street, SS1

The Pipe of Port is the ideal place to stop in on a lazy Sunday to help you wind down from a busy week.

The menu offers a topside of beef, Sutton-Hoo free range chicken and chestnut pie, scottish steak, kidney and mushroom pie or a selection of vegetarian and vegan pies.

A two course meal is £20 whilst three courses is £25.
