A MAN has been acquitted of being involved in a fight which left a man unconscious.

Marcel Postoronca has been found not guilty of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm to a man during an incident in Southend back in 2016.

The 26-year-old of Heygate Avenue, Southend, had been accused of getting involved in a violent incident at a property in Tyrell Drive on July 28 that year.

It was alleged that violence broke out after a man came into a communal kitchen of a house to ask a group of men to keep the noise down.

It was alleged Mr Postoronca had kicked the man in the head, and then a second time outside the property.

He denied this when questioned by police and during the trial.

Stefan Sava has already been jailed for his involvement in the attack.

The 41-year-old of Maldon Road, Southend, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years in 2017.

The attack left the victim with serious head injuries including brain bruising and a fractured eye socket.

He said he later struggled to eat and suffered from depression following the incident.

Mr Postoronca had always denied being involved in the fight and that Sava was the sole person for causing the injuries to the victim.

The trial began last week and lasted for two days.

On Thursday, a jury of five women and seven men acquitted Mr Postoronca on both charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The jury took just a few hours to return their verdicts.

Judge Ian Graham then thanked them for their service and discharged them.

Mr Postoronca did not attend his trial and had no representation.
