A BOY was chased through the streets of Westcliff before being left in an alleyway covered in blood.

The 16-year-old was chased by the gang of up to 30 teenagers on bikes and scooters before he was found battered and bruised on Saturday night.

Thomas Christopher, who found the boy curled up near the Oceans King Fish Bar, in Fairfax Drive, in Westcliff, said the gang were “after blood”.

It is understood the gang had come from a nearby house party at about 8.30pm, to which the 16-year-old victim had been invited.

Mr Christopher, 30, said: “I saw him sprint past and then within a minute they were all screaming and looking for him. It looked really dodgy. Some of them were on bikes with others on e-scooters.

“They were all in tracksuits and hoodies. I couldn’t stand by and not know what had happened to him.

“We found him on the floor next to some bins. His trainer was sticking out into the alley.

“He had curled up into a ball. He was shaking.

“He looked absolutely terrified. I think he thought I was part of the gang.”

Once he discovered the boy’s injures, the Good Samaritan took him into the safety of his car.

He added: “He was covered in blood. His lip was all bruised and swollen and he had scratches and cuts all over his face.

“There was pure fear in his eyes. It was horrible.

“I was worried they would come back. I told him he was safe.

“I asked him if he wanted a lift home. He was from Hockley.

“We dropped him at Prittlewell train station in the end.

“I hope he’s okay. I was beaten up at that age and it’s not nice at all.

“I’ve asked people if they know him or his parents to put me in touch. I just want to make sure he’s alright.”

Anyone with information should call Essex Police on 101.
