A CHIC French café is opening in Hove.

The independent Parisian-inspired Oeuf Café has supplanted Planet India restaurant in Third Avenue.

Customers will be able to quaff coffee, scoff food and sink drinks at the swanky new spot from October 1.

As well as a café, it’s also a bar, restaurant – and florist.

Owner Amber Sterck said the premises have been “completely redesigned” to incorporate an “on-site florist, a grab and go coffee and food station at the front, a wine and cocktail lounge, plenty of Covid-friendly seating, and a delightful secret garden where guests can enjoy brunch, locally sourced eco-friendly coffee, or a few cocktails”.

She said: “I’m hugely excited to be opening Oeuf in Third Avenue in Hove this autumn, as it fits our brand perfectly.

“I’ve worked in hospitality all my adult life, and it’s always been a dream to own and run my own café and bar in Hove.

“I was put on furlough in March and with my immediate future uncertain, I decided now was the best time to put all my eggs in one basket and open Oeuf Café.”

She said Oeuf will offer “the perfect balance between opulence and a friendly ‘home away from home’ atmosphere”.

The café aims to “make its customers feel important while eating their eggs and a mimosa, or two”.

Oeuf says it will be offering a locally and sustainably sourced menu – which is to be announced soon, but is set to include “classic yet glamorous breakfasts and brunches, healthy smoothie bowls and Moroccan-inspired skillets, all with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options available.”

It will be open 8am to 6pm from Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 9pm from Thursday to Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

Ms Sterck added: “Opening a café and bar in Hove has always been a dream of mine and it’s all self-funded, so my heart and soul has gone into this place.

“Opening up during a global pandemic has been extremely challenging, but our large interior space and garden allows us to safely serve our customers while safely adhering to social distancing measures.”

Oeuf will be open from 8.30am on October 1.
