A ROAD is closed in both directions after a crash between a lorry and a van.
The A1089 in Tilbury is shut between Marshfoot Road roundabout an the A13.
It follows a crash which happened on the northbound carriageway involving a lorry and a van.
The southbound carriageway is also closed to allow an air ambulance to land.
It is not known if there has been any serious injuries.
The crash happened at around 3.40pm this afternoon.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust have been contacted for comment.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A1089 Dock Approach Road in Tilbury.
"It follows reports that a van and a HGV collided while travelling towards the A13.
"The collision occurred at around 3.40pm.
"The road has been closed to traffic while we carry out our enquiries."
The spokesman called for anyone with information or dash cam footage to call our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 764 of 21/09.
