SAINSBURY'S Rayleigh Weir customers were left out of pocket after their cars broke down moments after refuelling there.

Sainsbury's confirmed there were issues at its Rayleigh Weir petrol station for two hours.

However, in the short space of time, up to ten customers are thought to have been affected.

Two customers, reported breaking down ten minutes after refuelling at the petrol station and both were subsequently told by mechanics that there was water in their fuel tank.

Ellen Boyd, posted on Sainsbury's Facebook page demanded a reimbursement for the costs of fixing her car.

Another customer said he had to pay £135 to fix the damage caused by the dodgy petrol.

A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: “We are investigating a very small number of reports of an issue at our Rayleigh Weir petrol station, which may have occurred for two hours earlier this week. We are in touch with customers who could be affected.”
