Police are on the hunt for a black BMW after an officer was dragged as he held onto a car door.

Essex Police are trying to trace the car, which has the number plate WO19 EZG, after an incident in the Chalkwell Park area, Westciff.

At around 8.40pm on Thursday, September 17, the BMW failed to stop for officers.

It then struck a number of other vehicles.

The BMW stopped in Osborne Road and was blocked in by a police car and a member of the public's van.

As officers got out to speak to the driver, the BMW reversed into the police car.

One of the officers was dragged a short way as he held onto the door.

Five other parked cars were also damaged.

The officer was left uninjured.

In a fresh appeal for information, Essex Police said: "A black BMW failed to stop for officers in the Chalkwell Park area at around 8.40pm on September 17.

"It was then in collision with a number of other vehicles.

"The officers involved in the incident also reported being driven at in the Osbourne Road area after they had got out of their car.

"We are trying to trace the BMW, which has the number plate WO19 EZG.
