A SCHOOL has closed because of severe flooding, bosses have confirmed.
Mayflower High School in Billericay will be closed today due to flooding caused by Storm Alex over the weekend.
The school, on Stock Road, has told staff and students to stay away from the site.
Storm Alex caused flash flooding in the UK over the weekend and has now swept across Europe.

A spokesman from the school, said: "The school is closed today, Monday 5 October due to flooding.
"No students or staff are to attend the site.
"Students will be able to access work via the school VLE and Show My Homework."
