Staff and students at an academy have been sent home after one staff member tested positive for Covid.
At Belfairs Academy in Leigh one staff member has also tested positive for the virus and pupils have been sent home.
Bev Williams, Chief Executive at Legra Academy Trust, which oversees the school, said: “We can confirm a member of staff at Belfairs Academy has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, some children have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
“We have taken advice from Public Health England in relation to this case and have followed the instructions.
“We have a comprehensive risk assessment in place and continue to take all steps necessary to keep our students and staff safe.”
