Two more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed at a school after other cases saw a partial closure.

Mayflower High School in Billericay now has a second teacher and a Year Eight pupil who also have the virus.

It comes after it was announced pupils in years 7, 8, 9 and 10 from the school in Stock Road, Billericay, will be studying from home until the end of this half term on Friday October 23 after a member within the school community, reported to be a teacher, tested positive for the virus.

A letter to parents says: "We have been made aware of a second member of the teaching staff and a student in Year Eight that have tested positive for coronavirus at Mayflower High School. Individual isolation letters have been sent to all students who have been in contact with the staff member or student.

"We know you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and working closely with public health England."
