Cash and jewellery stolen from an antiques shop was recovered almost immediately by police.

Police received reports of a theft at Croxley Antiques and Collectables on Friday.

It was reported that suspects had made off in a vehicle with thousands of pounds in cash and jewellery from the shop.

Police quickly flooded the area and a vehicle matching the description of the one seen making off from the shop was soon spotted by neighbourhood officers near Chorleywood.

The suspects then ditched the vehicle, but one was quickly detained in Chorleywood.

The police helicopter and dog unit joined in the search for the other suspect, who was eventually found by specialist police officers in Solesbridge Lane.

Officers were able to recover jewellery and cash which was taken back to the grateful antique shop owners.

Earlier today, Croxley Antiques and Collectables posted on Facebook: “Thanks so much to everyone involved in the apprehension of the thieves.

“The speed and professionalism was nothing short of amazing! Police arrived at the shop while were still on the 999 call!

“From Dave and John with heartfelt thanks to the police.”

Three Rivers Police added on Facebook: “This is another example of the teamwork and professionalism between different departments and policing teams and for all to get involved no matter the area of type of crime.”
