Residents are being encouraged to stay home to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.

The Maldon and Heybridge branch of the Royal British Legion is asking people who would normally come to the town to pay their respects, to stay home.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual parade and service at Maldon's War Memorial will not take place to ensure everyone is safe in line with government guidelines.

Instead, the Town Mayor will conduct a wreath laying on the town's behalf and observe a two minutes silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday.

Residents are invited to join in the the two minute silence from the safety of your own homes via the live stream on the council's YouTube channel.

The stream will also include history, photographs, the names of the Fallen from WW2 and interviews with veterans.
