A VILE sexual predator raped a woman and then wrote a confession on the wall of his flat.

James Frost raped one of his two victims in his flat in March this year, and then sexually assaulted the second in her own home in Southend a few days later.

Police later found words written on the walls of the 39-year-old’s flat, in Kursaal Way, Southend, saying that he had “raped someone and did not want to do it again”.

Frost was jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday for rape, sexual assault and assaulting emergency workers.

Prosecuting, Gareth Hughes told the court Frost had approached his first victim while she was out drinking on March 27.

He said: “She first went to an off-licence and then to Londis grocery store.

“When she rang a cab company there was a two-hour wait, and the defendant offered to walk her home. At one stage they sat on a bench and he exposed himself to her.

“She told him she wasn’t interested. He changed tack and asked her to come home for a drink. She agreed, but just for a drink.

“They put some music on and sat on a mattress on the floor. She said he was acting weird.”

Frost then pounced on the woman, removing her clothes and raped her, while she screamed and tried to fight him off.

Mr Hughes added: “She was able to kick him off and bash him off with her arm. Her survival instinct had kicked in.

“She told him she had stomach ache and went to the toilet.

“She was able to get to the front door and was able to get out of the flat and walk home.”

Frost attacked his second victim on March 30 at about 1am.

Mr Hughes said: “She heard the bell going and got her dressing gown on and went downstairs.

“She peered through the letter box and saw light coloured jeans and thought it was her friend.

“She opened the door slightly but realised it was this defendant. She tried to shut the door but he barged his way in. He shut the door and pushed her against the wall.”

Frost then sexually assaulted the woman against the wall, but she managed to fight back.

Mr Hughes added: “She remembers hitting him against the head and for some reason he backed off and he said ‘I’m sorry’.

Mr Hughes said the woman noticed a note that had come through her door a little later at 2am, which read: ‘Hi, my name is James, sorry I touched your who-ha. Good punch, I deserved it’.

When police searched Frost’s flat and found the words on the walls, they included: ‘I have raped and I don’t want to do it again’.

In a victim impact statement, Frost’s first victim said it had impacted her confidence and said that he is a “predator” who “took advantage” of her vulnerability when she couldn’t get home, and that he “took an opportunity”.

Frost’s second victim said that whenever she receives a knock on her door, “her legs would turn to jelly”. Mitigating, Jacqueline Carey, told the court: “He had his head in his hands as all those appalling facts were read out.

“He has absolute shame and remorse about what he has done to these two women.”

Ms Carey said Frost had been under the influence of drugs at the time.

She added: “It’s highly unusual case that there is a case where there are repeated confessions to a rape by this defendant.”

Ms Carey said Frost had previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

She added it was “very rare” for a perpetrator to leave a note after offending.

Recorder David Osborne gave Frost a 16-year sentence, including 11 years in prison and at least five years on licence when he is released.

Frost is the third high-profile rape case to be come through the courts this year, following the jailing of Olawale Hassan, 33, of Falcone Avenue, Grays, in October for raping a woman in his car in Westcliff in February 2017.

In August, Kye Lewis, 21, of Archer Avenue, was convicted of raping a woman twice in a cemetery on Sutton Road, Southend in July 2017.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
