BUILDING work is moving swiftly ahead on a £125m landmark block of apartments on Southend seaftont which is set to include a restaurant and cocktail bar with expansive views of the Thames Estuary.

Clifftown Shore is being built on the old Esplanade pub site and Marriott's fish restaurant next door and should be finished by autumn 2021.

When complete, 51 apartments will be up for sale and a stunning restaurant and cocktail bar will take pride of place on the ground floor - which will also offer room service for the flats above.

The development's website has revealed Elysium Group, which also owns Pavilion in Colchester, has been named as the company behind the restaurant.

Posting on the website for the development, bosses say: "Elysium Group, which also owns Pavilion in Colchester, is very much looking forward to bringing their high-level dining experience to Clifftown Shore in what will be a stunning restaurant.

"Not only will they deliver a beautiful restaurant and cocktail bar, but they will also provide private room service to the 51 apartments above so that residents can enjoy fine dining from their private terraces as the sun sets over the sea."

Construction workers have been on site consistently in recent months as work contiues on the new development.

Bosses say Clifftown Shore’s design reflects the Art Deco heritage of Southend’s seafront, adding: "The flowing curves of the façade evoke thoughts of the majestic waves as they role in day and night."
