The owner of a popular concept restaurant will be flying solo in opening his very own restaurant next year.

Business partners, Paul Wendholt and Jordan Sidwell opened Grain in North Hill, Colchester, back in 2016.

But the duo were forced to close their doors last month after four years in the town, due to the uncertainty in the industry amid the pandemic.

Now flying solo, with Jordan taking some time out from the industry to reasses what he wants to do in the future, Paul will be opening his first very own restaurant called Kintsu Colchester in spring next year.

Revealing the news this morning, a message on the Grain Facebook page, read: "Right then, here it is.

"As of yesterday I am the new tenant of 11a North Hill and will be opening my first solo restaurant @kintsu_colchester in spring next year.

"We'll hold the same values as Grain but it's going to be a whole new experience and I can't wait to share it with you all."

In a video, Paul explained: "You may notice that I'm still sat in the restaurant even though we're not open anymore, and the reason is I've signed a new lease with the landlord. I'll be opening my own restaurant here next year in spring 2021.

"A solo venture this time, it's no longer me and Jordan. Jordan's taking some time out and having a bit of a break from the industry to reasses what he wants to do in the future which hopefully means we'll see him back in the town or the local area sooner rather than later.

"I think we'd all like to see that. For the mean time this is what I'm going to be doing and that is opening here at 11a North Hill under a different brand - Kinstu Colchester.

"Please give us a follow on Instagram and Facebook so you can see what we're up to.

"For anyone that was a fan of Grain we're gonna be similar in terms of the product we offer, but I'm gonna be making some changes to the place itself so it's going to be a different vibe."
