Residents are being warned to be prepared to flooding due to weather conditions and high tides.

Southend Coastgaurd is warning about possible flooding and telling people to take care on coastal roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

The Thames barrier is being closed how to protect London from tidal threat.

A spokesman for the coastguard said: "Flood Alert in force now: Flooding is possible - be prepared

"This message has been issued because there is a possibility of some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths between 12:45pm and 4:45pm today. 

"Take care on coastal roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger; Large waves can catch anyone out & sweep you out to sea in a blink of an eye, Keep a safe distance from the waves, keep your children close by & pets away from rough seas and Never risk your life for a selfie."
